Transparency International New Zealand

Transparency International New Zealand is the recognised New Zealand representative of Transparency International, the global coalition against corruption. We are a not-for-profit incorporated society with charitable status. We are non-political and non-partisan.

Objectives

Transparency International New Zealand was founded in 1999 with the objectives to promote transparency, good governance and ethical practices in the private and public sectors in NZ; to promote ethical business practices by NZ business offshore, and transparency and good governance in our region; and to contribute to the international effort to reduce corruption and promote good governance.

Auditor-General releases Performance Audits from 2007: Follow-up report

The Auditor-General recently released a report to Parliament which sets out the actions taken in response to the findings of the 14 performance audits the Office of the Auditor-General published during 2007.

Governance

Transparency International New Zealand is governed by a Board of Directors of up to 14 persons elected by Members at the Society’s Annual General Meeting.

The Office Bearers (Chair and Deputy Chair) are also elected by the Members at the AGM. Directors are appointed for two years.

Global Financial Crisis Test for Transparency International
1 May 2009

Transparency International (New Zealand)’s Chair, Gerald McGhie, believes that the current financial crisis is a singular test for Transparency International. 

“It will not be so much how well TI analyses the issues (though this will be important) but whether we can make a distinctive contribution to the debate.  TI must be distinguishable from the many other submissions that will be presented to global leaders”.
